Located in the beautiful Shenandoah Valley in a magnificent two-story brick building, Applegate has been serving the Valley for over 17 years. The building in which we are located was built in 1796. It used to be Hogues Ordinary, a tavern-like establishment. It is located on the south side of Winchester, in Kernstown, in front of the Kernstown Battlefield, sitting right along Route 11 South, or the Great Valley Pike, which was traveled by many during the Civil War era, before and beyond. Generals such as Thomas "Stonewall" Jackson and Robert E. Lee, as well as many others, have passed by this beautiful structure.
